Field Hockey

Field hockey was very fun, but challenging to shoot.  The ball is rather small (and you always want the ball to appear in the photo) and travels up to 100 miles an hour. Sometimes it's rather hard to keep up with it.

This has to be both the shot (mine) and save (the player in the goal mouth) of the day. Not only did the player (from India) save a goal, it would appear he saved a lot more with his block of the shot on goal.  A few more shots from today's matches follow below.

FORE!

Can you see the water splashing up from the playing surface (artificial turf)?

In order to reduce player injury (such as making sliding easier) and reduce "carpet burns" from the artificial turf, the hockey field is watered both before the game and at halftime. The sprinklers constituted the entertainment at the hockey venue.
