Cycling at the Velodrome

This was the first time I've ever watched (or shot) track cycling in person.  I really enjoyed it and would certainly welcome the opportunity to do it again.

Here are a few action shots from today's competitions:





One of today"s events was part of the Men's Omnium.  This is a six event competition contested over two days.  It seems to be a very interesting competition; kind of like the decathlon in track & field.   Track cycling is primarily for sprinters.  The omnium was added for the endurance cyclists.


I took the opportunity to shoot some "creative" and "abstract" shots to give the effect of motion.  Here are a few of those shots:


 

Yes, I really tried to make these shots look this way!  I think cycling is one of the sports that lends itself to this sort of technique.
